Dear Mr. Pastwik:
Q: I am from the Swedish Specialty Coffee Academy and I have a question:
Is there any technical difference between your r2mini BRIX refractometer:
http://www.reichertai.com/products.html?productID=37
and the one George Howell Coffee Co is selling on his web site:
http://software.terroircoffee.com/Detail_only.asp
A: Yes, there is a difference. The coffee refractometer that the George Howell Coffee Company (GHCC) sells has proprietary software developed by GHCC designed specifically for measuring total dissolved solids (% TDS) in Coffee directly, and is temperature compensated specifically for coffee.
Our standard r2mini measures one dissolved solid in solution, specifically Sucrose, which is called a Brix scale (or % Brix), and is temp compensated for Sucrose, which is not applicable to measuring % TDS of coffee, the two are vastly different in their relationship and temperature compensation. The George Howell Coffee Co is the only Reichert distributor authorized to sell the Coffee version of the r2mini Refractometer.
They also will have an Espresso Model in the near future, as demonstrated at the SCAA show in Atlanta. If you have any technical questions about these instruments feel free to contact me.
For interest in the Coffee and Espresso Refractometer r2mini product(s), please contact Vince at the George Howell Coffee Co at:

Best Regards ........
